INTRODUCTION
Extreme events and their consequences have dramatically shifted the business and economic performance landscape. The sources of extreme events are not only coming from the Covid 19 pandemic and the Ukraine war but also from climate change, political instability, natural disasters and others. Shocks will never be completely foreseeable or preventable. Instead, the industry should focus on resilience, or maximizing quick recovery from disruptions. Since extreme events are remarkably impactful and may threaten the existence of the businesses, the companies need to reconcile the efficiency and resiliency tensions.
However, manufacturers are often short-sighted in their resiliency development. This can be evidenced by frequent shortages of many products in the market, particularly critical medical products. These imply the lack of comprehensive understanding of supply chain resiliency and the need for re-examining the way manufacturers have been developing resiliency in their supply chains. This practical and direct-to-the-point seminar will highlight the key elements required to build resilience in the face of disruptions and guide manufacturers how to put into practice to build effective supply chain resilience.
