AMMI recently organised its HR Forum and Networking Meeting at Hilton Hotel Petaling Jaya. The full-day event was a great success, with over 30 participants attending the forum workshop. AMMI Treasurer Mr Chin Hock Meng gave a welcome speech to all present. The day started off with presentations from Mr Zain Azrai and Mr Lim from Korn Ferry Hay Group, who talked about Compensations and Benefits. Next up was guest speaker, Mr K. Kesavan , Senior Principal Assistant Secretary, Policy Division, Ministry of Human Resources who spoke about the Impact of TPPA on the Labour Law. This was then followed by an engagement session by Talent Corp Malaysia, represented by Puan Hajjah Mahuran, Head of Research, CEO’s Office. The group then adjourned for a sumptuous buffet lunch at the coffee house.
Ms Cynthia Ooi (VP Human Resource, B.Braun) took the lead at the start of the second half session, by introducing the concept of World Cafe Workshop. She also introduced fellow cafe hosts, Mr Joshua Chong (Senior Manager, Ambu) and Encik Ahmad Nordin (Asst. General Manager, Texchem Group). The participants were divided into 3 groups and worked on 3 different topics : (1) Sharing Employee Retention Strategies (2) Engaging your employees (3) Employee Motivation. The workshop was very interactive and engaging, with a lot of sharing by participants. All gave the workshop a big thumbs up and would very much love to do it again!

After four years, he was promoted to Document Control and QA Department Supervisor, in charge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2008), Medical Device Management Systems (ISO 13485:2003), and all design control documentation. He also served as the Risk Management Team Leader, Internal Audit Team Leader, Clinical Evaluation Team Member, Clinical Follow-Up Team Member, and Internal Trainer. At the same time, Leon was also a lecturer and trainer for several industry training centers.
Leon has been with BSI for over ten years. His current role is Scheme Manager and Technical Specialist of the BSI Global Orthopedic and Dental Devices Team, responsible for generating and maintaining the schemes related to medical device CE certification to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from the Notified Body and supporting operations with local teams.

Dr. James Jayadeva Govindasamy is known as a visionary leader who champions employee welfare, environmental sustainability, and community development. He has successfully positioned Alcon Johor as a benchmark of excellence in Malaysia’s medical device manufacturing industry.
Dr. Muralitharan Paramasua, is the Chief Executive of Medical Device Authority, Ministry of Health Malaysia since 15th February 2023. Before being appointed as Chief Executive in February 2023, Dr. Muralitharan served in Ministry of Health Malaysia as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in various positions for 9 years.
Prior to joining MOH, Dr. Muralitharan was also once served at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for 7 years from 2011 to 2017 and was responsible for international affairs of the ministry including free trade negotiations with different countries. Dr. Muralitharan earned his PhD in International Economy from University of Malaya. He received his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Biohealth Science from the University of Malaya.
Mr Baskaran is employed, since 2019, by Teleflex Medical Sdn Bhd (wholly owned by Teleflex Incorporated, headquartered in Wayne Pennsylvania, US) and currently holds the position as Head of Manufacturing for APAC Region. He is a member of the Board of Directors in Teleflex Medical Sdn Bhd. He oversees the Manufacturing Operations of all the 4 Teleflex Manufacturing Sites in Malaysia & India with over 4000+ employees.
He has over 33 years of Operations experience in various industry including Electronics, FMCG, & Medical Device, particularly, in the field of manufacturing, engineering, environment, safety, health, security, sustainability and quality having held various positions shaping the operating environment. Prior to joining Teleflex, Mr Baskaran held various operations positions in numerous multi-national corporations including Texas Instruments and SC Johnson.
