The Association of Malaysian Medical Industries (AMMI) successfully hosted the Malaysia Medtech Industry Summit 2025, themed “Malaysia: Powering the Future of Medtech Manufacturing”, on 2 October 2025 at G Hotel Gurney, Penang.

The Summit brought together over 430 participants, including AMMI members, key stakeholders from the medical technology industry, government agencies, and global experts, making it a truly international platform for collaboration.

The Opening Ceremony was officiated by Dr. Muralitharan, Chief Executive of the Medical Device Authority (MDA), together with Ms. Surayu Susah, Executive Director of MIDA, representing the CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

The programme featured insightful sessions and panel discussions led by both local and international thought leaders, covering:

• Global Regulatory Updates
• Building Strategic Supply Chain Partnerships for Global Competitiveness
• Upcoming Regulatory Priorities in Malaysia
• Medical Device Packaging & Sterilization
• ESG in Medtech
• Strengthening TVET for the Future of the Medical Device Industry

By bringing in global experts alongside industry and government leaders, the Summit provided valuable perspectives on industry trends, best practices, and future opportunities — reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a regional powerhouse for medtech manufacturing.

21 August 2025: AMMI Q3  Progress Meeting and Networking

AMMI recently hosted its Q3 Progress Meeting, and CEO Networking at Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event brought together over 30 members and guests for a full day of strategic discussions and industry engagement. The event wrapped up with networking session at Colonial Cafe.

10 June 2025: AMMI EGM, AGM Q2 Progress Meeting and Networking

AMMI recently hosted its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Q2 Progress Meeting, and CEO Networking at G Hotel Gurney, Penang. The event brought together over 40 members and guests for a full day of strategic discussions and industry engagement.

The session began with the EGM, followed by the 36th AGM, during which the Board of Directors for the 2025/2026 term was elected.

The Q2 session featured a presentation and dialogue with Ms Yusni Md Yusup, Director of Strategic Planning & Policy Advocacy (Manufacturing) at MIDA. Ms Yusni shared timely updates on the New Industrial Master Plan (IMP), new investment incentives, and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) Tax Incentive Package.

The meeting also marked the retirement of AMMI Treasurer, Mr. Michel Van Crombrugge, who was warmly acknowledged for his outstanding dedication and eight years of service on the Board.

The event wrapped up with a lively networking cocktail at G Spot Gurney, offering members a chance to connect and celebrate industry camaraderie.

27 February 2025: AMMI Q1 Progress Meeting and Networking

The AMMI Q1 Progress Meeting at E&O Hotel Penang brought together over 40 members and guests for key industry updates. The session included the presentation of the 2024 AMMI Annual Report, followed by insights on MITI’s proposed amendment to the Industrial Co-ordination Act 1975. TalentCorp’s briefings covered the 1:3 Internship Policy and the impact of AI, digitalization, and the green economy on the medical device sector. The event concluded with a networking cocktail session, fostering valuable industry connections.
