MIDA – AMMI Launch of Medical Industry Outlook Report 2015
| Kuala Lumpur, 14 July 2015 : AMMI together with the Malaysian Investment Authority (MIDA) recently launched the AMMI Medical Device Industry Outlook Report 2015 at MIDA Sentral Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by MIDA management team, AMMi Members and invited press.Guest of Honour, MIDA CEO YBhg Dato’ Azman Mahmud gave a speech, citing MIDA’s commitment towards the Medical Device Industry; highlighting that MIDA has approved 11 projects worth RM464.6 million in the medical device industry that would create 1,633 jobs in the first quarter of 2015. He also mentioned that AMMI played a prominent role in the development of the country’s medical device industry.
AMMI Chairman , Mr Hitendra Joshi then gave a presentation on the AMMI Industry Survey Status and outlook for the future of the Medical Device Industry; reiterating AMMI’s commitment towards supporting Malaysia in its quest to emerge as a leading international hub for medical device manufacturing in Asia Pacific. He then presented the AMMI Medical Device Industry Report 2015 to Y.Bhg. Dato’ Azman Mahmud. The launch was followed by a press conference. |

AGM and Q2 Progress Meeting
| AMMI held its AGM and Q2 Progress Meeting recently at G Kelawai Hotel, Penang. After the meeting, there was exclusive briefing session and dialogue on 11th Malaysian Plan (RMK-11) with Madam Liew Siew Lee, Director of Manufacturing, Science & Technology, Economic Planning Unit (EPU), PM’s Department. This was followed by a presentation by MIDA on the Principal Hub Incentive Scheme by Encik Masri, Deputy Directory of the Regional establishment and supply chain management division, MIDA and his Assistant Director, Ms Maziah. Completion Ceremony : Medtech Talent and Employment Programme Batch 1
| The AMMI-NCIA Medtech Talent and Employment Programme Batch 1 concluded with the Completion Ceremony for graduate trainees at G Hotel Kelawai Penang on 11 June 2015. It was indeed a proud moment for the graduate trainees when they received their certificates from Puan Jariyah Hashim, Head of Education & Human Capital Development, of Northern Implementation Corridor Authority (NCIA). |

| AMMI recently organised its Regulatory Affairs Group Meeting and Dialogue with Medical Device Authority at Royale Bintang Hotel, Penang. The event was indeed well-received with over 60 participants from Ain Medicare, Ambu, Ansell, APS Medical, Bard, Bemis, B.Braun, Cardinal Health, Dispo-Med, DuPont Malaysia, Epsilon, Fresenius, Haemonetics, GMMI, Ideal Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson, Mintec-Sinagama, Medtroninc-Mediquip, Mira Medsource, Molnlycke Health Care, Paramit Malaysia, Penchem, Professional Tools & Dies, St Jude Medical, Stereo, Straits Orthopaedics, Symmetry Medical, Teleflex, Texchem Lifesciences, UMMI Medical & Life Sciences, Unomedical, Vigilenz Medical and Worldiwde Medivest.
The objectives of the meeting were to provide a platform for members to seek clarification on outstanding issues with MDA, raise their queries on issues related to the Medical Regulation Act (737) as well as to obtain a better understanding for the ASEAN Medical Device Directive (AMDD). AMMI wishes to thank Encik Zamane and his team from Medical Device Authority for taking time out to participate and support our meeting.
