AMMI 37th Annual General Meeting and Q2 Progress Meeting

AMMI hosted its 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Q2 Progress Meeting, and CEO Networking on 11 June 2026 at E&O Hotel, Penang. Over 50 members attended the event.

The session began with the 37th AGM, during which the Board of Directors for the 2026/2027 term was elected.  Congratulations to our AMMI Board of Directors 2026/2027

This was followed by the Q2 Meeting, which also featured a Closed-Door Dialogue with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.  Speaker Mr Sanjilatheeban A/L Subramaniam (Senior Assistant Director of Customs, Customs Division, Penang) addressed the questions from members.

The event concluded with the networking session for members and guests

11 June also marked the retirement of AMMI Chairman, Mr. HT Eow, who was warmly acknowledged for his outstanding dedication and service on the Board. We recognise your steadfast leadership and support through the years as AMMI Chairman 2025/2026, AMMI Vice-Chairman 2024/2025, AMMI Board Member since 2023 and AMMI Secretary-General 2017-2018.

4 May 2026: AMMI Courtesy Call on MITI Minister

AMMI paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani. The delegation was led by AMMI Chairman Mr. HT Eow (MD, Abbott), accompanied by AMMI Secretary-General Dato’ Seri Dr. Hj Haminnuddin Abd Hamid (Founder and Executive Chairman, Ideal Health Care) and AMMI Executive Director Mr. CS Ching. They were joined by AMMI members,  Andy Lee Kuan Min (Regional Director, Government Affairs, Abbott). Dr. Mohd Emil Azril Bahari bin Md. Noor (General Manager, B. Braun), Chan Chin Woon (CEO, Hospitech), Rosman Hamid (CEO, Grand Ten), Nah Chee Siang (MD, STERIS), Khairun Nadzim (Operations Director, STERIS),  Mohd Zaid Abdul Jalil (Deputy CEO,  Kulim High Tech Park Corp), Mohd Faez Fakharie Abd Halim (Head of Plant, KHTP), Ho Wei Hon (GM, GT2 Healthcare), Dr JS Khaw (Operations Manager, CCB Medical) and Bruce Low (Manager, Euremed)

The meeting underscored AMMI’s commitment to fostering closer collaboration with MITI in advancing Malaysia’s medical device industry and enhancing engagement between industry stakeholders and the government.

15 April 2026: AMMI Global Expert Seminar on Medical Device Sterilization

AMMI, in collaboration with DuPont Tyvek® Healthcare Packaging, successfully hosted the Global Expert Seminar on Medical Device Sterilization at the E&O Hotel, Penang, with 90 participants in attendance.

The seminar covered sterilization fundamentals, emerging alternatives, and updates in sterile packaging standards—highlighting their role in product safety, market access, and innovation.  DuPont Global experts Dan Floyd and Vishnu Vyas shared valuable insights on the subject.

26 March 2026: AMMI Roundtable with Deputy MITI Minister, YB Sim Tze Tzin

AMMI members participated in a roundtable discussion with Deputy MITI Minister, YB Sim Tze Tzin at Boston Scientific in Batu Kawan. The session brought together key industry leaders and government agencies, including Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) , InvestPenang and Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science and Technology Centre (CREST), to exchange perspectives on strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional MedTech hub and advancing localisation initiatives.

AMMI expressed appreciation for YB Sim’s engagement and openness in understanding industry priorities, reinforcing the importance of continued public-private collaboration to drive sustainable growth in Malaysia’s medical technology ecosystem.

A big thank you to Mr Fearghal Hennessy, VP of Boston Scientific, for hosting the session and to AMMI members for their valuable insights and contributions.

9 March 2026: Closed Door Dialogue and Ramadan Dinner with MIDA CEO 

AMMI members convened at Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur for a Closed Door Dialogue with Y. Bhg. Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of MIDA, and the MIDA management team, led by AMMI Vice-Chairman Mr Samuel Pooranakaran, alongside AMMI Secretary-General Y. Bhg Dato’ Dr Hj Hamminnuddin Hj Abd Hamid and AMMI Executive Director, Mr CS Ching.

The session featured a briefing on the New Incentive Framework and an open dialogue with MIDA leadership, generating valuable insights. Attending AMMI members included B. Braun, Boston Scientific, Alcon Johor, Cochlear Malaysia, Ensera, Grand Ten Holdings, Ideal Health Care, Jabil Circuit, KHTP Sterilisation Services, Roche Diagnostics, Straits Orthopaedics, Synergy Sterilisation, Tecomet, V3 Bio, Worldwide Medivest, and Zeito Plastics. The event concluded with a private Ramadan dinner.
