Penang is the first Manufacturing and Distribution Site in Southeast Asia, and it is dedicated to support a critical portfolio of products including Angioplasty Balloons for Interventional Cardiologist and Peripheral Interventional businesses, Urology Laser Fibers and Gastrointestinal Biopsy Forceps for the Med-Surge Division.
Sayron has been with Boston Scientific for 16 years, supporting different Operations positions and his leadership has been instrumental in the growth of different Boston Scientific Sites by influencing and championing a culture of innovation, operational excellence, lean manufacturing, six sigma, technical people development and global collaboration in many several initiatives for base business sustaining, commercial manufacturing transfers and new product & acquisition integrations.
Sayron holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Modern Manufacturing Systems both from Costa Rica Institute of Technology (TEC).

Hawwa has almost 20 years of managerial experience in various sectors mainly in Aerospace & Defense. She has been working with B. Braun for one year as the Head of Operational Excellence for Asia Pacific and for the Center of Excellence for intravenous access (IVA). She is also in charge of the Digital Qualification Hub (DQH) at BMI.
Prior to joining B. Braun, she was involved in consulting activities where she brought her expertise in Business Management, Operational Excellence and Change Management.
She is graduated from the Technical University of Compiegne (UTC) in France with a Diploma in mechanical engineering.

Joyce is the Human Resources Director and part of the pioneer team for Boston Scientific’s first operation hub in Asia. She joined Boston Scientific Penang in 2016 and has been an instrumental player in helping the company build its Human Resources Department. In her current role, she is responsible for overseeing the Company’s human resources activities in Penang, including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, HRBP, Communication, Talent Management, Employee Services, and Global Mobility. During her tenure, she has successfully implemented several improvements to the company’s human resources functions including establishing a solid employer branding strategy to attract and retain quality talents for operational growth.

Ms. Lim Bee Vian has been with the country’s main investment promotion agency i.e. the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) since 1991. She holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) degree from the Northern University of Malaysia. She has been involved in various functions of MIDA and has experience in policy advocacy and investment promotion for the manufacturing and services sector in Malaysia. She was involved directly in the drafting of the services chapter in the Third Industrial Master Plan (IMP3) which outlined the development strategies of selected services sectors from 2006 to 2020. She has also guided her officers to provide ideas and inputs for the New Industrial Master Plan, 2021 – 2030.
She has held various management positions in MIDA i.e. Director of Industry Talent Management, Executive Director for Strategic Planning (Services), Executive Director, Services Development and now she is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Investment Development.

Mark Arthun is the Managing Director & Site Leader for Smith+Nephew Operations Sdn Bhd. He oversees the manufacturing of orthopedic implants at Smith+Nephew’s manufacturing facility in Penang, Malaysia – a new greenfield facility with an investment of over $100M USD and a target to hire up to 800 Malaysians.
With a career spanning both the aerospace and medical device industries, Mark is a global operations leader with extensive experience in Operations and Operational Excellence. Before joining Smith+Nephew, Mark held leadership positions at Abbott, Alere, and Boeing.
In addition to Mark’s role at Smith+Nephew, he is the Chair of the Board at the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and a Management Council member at the Penang Skills Development Center.
Mark is from Montana in the United States and holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Mark has relocated from the United States to Penang with his wife, Jocelyn.

Columba joined Dexcom over 2 years ago as Vice President of Operations with responsibility for the start-up of their new manufacturing facility in Penang. Scheduled to go into commercial production is 2023 the Penang project represents a more than US$500 million investment for Dexcom and is expected to create over 2,500 new jobs in the coming few years.
Columba has over 20 years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industry and prior to joining Dexcom, held Management positions at both Abbott and AbbVie across Manufacturing and Engineering in Ireland and Puerto Rico.
Columba has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Galway in Ireland.

Samuel has over 25 years of experience in consumer electronic, implantable medical device manufacturing & logistics operations. Graduating from RMIT University, Australia, Samuel joined Seagate Singapore in 1994 and took up various roles across South East Asia.
In 2007, Samuel moved to Sydney and joined Cochlear. Here, he continued embracing opportunities and new challenges culminating in his final Sydney-based role as the Head of Manufacturing Engineering.
Subsequently, in 2016 Samuel moved to Malaysia to build the manufacturing & global logistics facility from scratch to support Cochlear’s growing global demand. Currently, he is responsible for manufacturing & logistics operations as a Vice President of Malaysian operations.

Gogielan has held numerous posts in MIDA. He joined MIDA as Assistant Director at ICT and Electrical Division in 2005 and was responsible to evaluate applications for Manufacturing licenses, Incentive and expatriate posts, and promotional activities in specific industries.
From 2013, he was attached to Green Technology Division and was involved in evaluating incentives and expatriate posts for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and waste management. He was involved in providing inputs and in the formulation and review of policies, strategies, and guidelines for the Green Technology Incentive, as well as preparation of incentives proposal for the Annual Budget. He is currently the Deputy Director of the Green Technology Division, MIDA.
