6 October 2026: Malaysia MedTech Industry Summit 2026

The 5th Malaysia MedTech Industry Summit 2026, held on 6 October 2026 at G Hotel Gurney, was a milestone gathering, with nearly 500 participants joining us to celebrate collaboration and resilience in Malaysia’s medical device industry. We were honoured to have YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, as our Guest of Honour.

In his keynote address, YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow emphasised that MedTech is now a pillar of the state’s high‑value manufacturing ecosystem, building on five decades of expertise in semiconductor and electronics. Penang is home to 7 of the world’s top 30 MedTech companies, has recorded RM238 billion in medical instrument exports since 2021, and has secured RM2.3 billion in investments, creating nearly 4,500 jobs. With this strong concentration of global leaders and homegrown firms, Penang is positioning itself as one of Southeast Asia’s leading MedTech hubs — standing alongside established offshore centres such as Puerto Rico, Ireland, and Costa Rica.

This message reinforced the MedTech industry’s strategic importance in Malaysia. This year’s theme, “Advancing a Future-Ready MedTech Ecosystem”, captured our collective aspiration to build a resilient, innovative, and globally competitive MedTech industry, well-positioned to seize emerging opportunities and meet future healthcare needs.

The Summit also featured a special session with YB Sim Tze Tzin, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, who delivered a speech and presented the inaugural AMMI Industry Partnership Recognition Awards.

Supporting the Government’s focus on promoting localisation, this inaugural recognition award celebrates AMMI member companies actively championing local sourcing and supply chain integration. By doing so, these companies are building a resilient, robust ecosystem that significantly strengthens Malaysia’s Medical Technology (MedTech) industry for the future.

Key topics discussed in the summit include:

  • AI in MedTech Manufacturing
  • Governance in MedTech
  • Regulatory Updates & Landscape
  • Future-Ready Workforce
  • Medical Device Packaging …and much more.

The insights shared and collaborations sparked will continue to drive Malaysia’s MedTech ecosystem forward.
