Penang, 2 & 3 October 2023 – The Association of Malaysian Medical Industries (AMMI) organised its Malaysia MedTech Industry Summit  and Gala Dinner 2023 at the G Hotel Gurney Penang.  The event was supported by MIDA, MDA, NCER, Invest Penang and APACMed, with Deloitte as knowledge partner.

The objective of the event was to serve as a platform for local suppliers to connect with medical device manufacturers. Over 370 participants attended the 2-day summit.

Day 1 began with Welcome Remarks by AMMI Chairman, Mr Andy Lee, followed by the Speech by YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, representative of the Penang Chief Minister. After the speeches and group photo, Mr Andy Lee led the VIPs for tour of the Exhibition area.

4 August 2023: MDA-AMMI Workshop on Import Permit

The Medical Device Authority (MDA)-AMMI Workshop on Medical Device Import Permit was organised exclusively for  AMMI member companies and their appointed forwarding agents. Held  at the MDA Cyberjaya Office, the workshop was attended by over 80 participants.

Topics covered include:-

1. Importation of Medical Device Framework: MDA’s Law and Customs Law
2. Draft of Guidelines to Apply for Medical Device Import Permit under Customs (Prohibitions on Imports) Order 2023
3. Future Gazettement of HS Codes that involve Medical Device under Customs (Prohibitions on Imports) Order 2023
4. Import for Re-Export framework
5. Medical Devices for Personal Use

2 June 2023: AMMI OpEx Sharing and Factory Visit to Greatech

20 AMMI members led by AMMI Operational Excellence Committee Leader/ AMMI Treasurer, Mr Michel Van Crombrugge visited Greatech Integration as part of the AMMI OpEx Sharing on Automation.  The factory tour covered both Greatch’s Bayan Lepas and Batu Kawan plants.

1 June 2023 -AMMI EGM, AGM and Q2 Progress Meeting

AMMI held its Extraordinary General Meeting, 34th Annual General Meeting and Q2 Progress Updates recently at Amari Spice Hotel Penang. Over 45 AMMI members and guests attended the event, which also included a presentation on Global Minimum Tax by Deloitte. After the meeting, AMMI members and guests adjourned for a networking cocktail session.

15 May 2023 – AMMI HR Rouodtable

30 HR professionals of AMMI member companies attended the AMMI HR Roundtable held at Olive Tree Hotel Penang. The event started with a discussion on “Attracting Key Talent”. This was followed by a “World-Cafe” Workshop on “Retention Strategies”.  The final part of the event saw a  presentation by  Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Nasrul Hamidin ,Director at Centre for Professional Development and Continuing Education, (PDCE), UniMAPUniversiti Malaysia Perlis ( UniMAP ) on Upskilling for Technicians & Operators, and Industry Collaborations.
