Highlighting AMMI’s Role at IMDEC2024
AMMI is proud to have been a strategic partner to the Medical Device Authority Malaysia at the highly successful International Medical Device Exhibition & Conference (IMDEC2024), held from 10th to 12th December 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
This landmark event, organized by the Medical Device Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, was held alongside the 28th Global Harmonization Working Party, reflecting Malaysia’s commitment to advancing the medical device industry.
IMDEC2024 brought together key stakeholders and industry leaders, including many of AMMI’s esteemed members such as APS Medical, Abbott, Allen Healthcare, B. Braun, Boston Scientific, CCB Medical, Cochlear, Euromed, Ideal Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson, Siliconpro, MyCO2 and V3 Bio. These companies showcased their latest innovations and highlighted Malaysia’s strong capabilities in the medical technology sector.
AMMI also played a key role in the panel discussion, “Empowering Malaysia as a MedTech Hub,” moderated by Mr. Ching Choon Siong, Executive Director of AMMI. The panel featured distinguished representatives from AMMI member companies:

The insightful discussion underscored Malaysia’s strengths as a medtech hub and highlighted strategies to further position the country as a leader in the global medical device landscape.

Inspiring the Next Generation of MedTech Innovators
One of the highlights of IMDEC2024 for AMMI was collaborating with the Medical Device Authority and Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science & Technology (CREST) to nurture the next generation of Malaysian innovators.
At the 2024 Medical Device Grand Design Challenge, held in conjunction with IMDEC2024, 16 talented teams from 5 local universities competed in the MedTech Innovation Competition. It was truly inspiring to witness the creativity, passion, and groundbreaking ideas of these young minds as they presented their solutions for the future of medical devices.
This initiative reflects AMMI’s dedication to fostering innovation and developing local talent to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a global leader in the medical device industry. The future of MedTech is bright, and it’s amazing to see our youth leading the way!
