8 Dec 2016 AMMI Annual Dinner

AMMI organised its Annual Dinner 2016 on 8 December 2016 with 90 members and guests coming together for industry networking.  The stylish luxe-lounge style restaurant, Neo Tamarind in Kuala Lumpur provided the perfect setting for the event.  Guest of Honour for the Dinner was Y.Bhg Datuk J.Jayasiri, Secretary-General of Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
Guests  enjoyed cocktails and canapes at the courtyard, before the start of dinner. To liven things up, Mr Christophe Marque (AMMI Secretary) conducted a short “Meet the Newbies” interview session with representatives of four new members, Boston Scientific (represented by Ms Maeve O’Neill) , Cochlear Malaysia (represented by Mr Samuel Pooranakaran), Engineered Medical Systems (represented by Encik Mohamad Noor) and Owen Mumford (represented by Mr Ian Husband). During the dinner, guests were entertained by lovely dancers from the Arabesque Belly Dance Centre.

8 Sept 2016 AMMI Q3 Meeting and CEO Networking

AMMI held its Q3 Progress Meeting at Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 8 Septemer 2016. Over 30 members attended the meeting. The main highlights of the day were a Dialogue Session with Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by Puan Mirza Ridiana binti Che Din (Deputy Undersecretary, Procurement Division) and Dr Yang Rashidi (Senior Principal Assistant Director, Medical Development Division). Also present were Ahmad Sharif bin Hambali (Director, Premarket Activities, Classification, CAB Registration, Medical Device Authority) and Ms Sasikala Devi Thangavelu (Director,  International Affairs, Policy, Guidance Document) from Medical Device Authority, Ms Santha Devi Subramaniam (Senior Deputy Director, Life Sciences & Medical Technology Division) from Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA)  and Ms Thavamani A/P Krishnan (Sectorial Policy) from Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI)

The networking cocktail also served as a  farewell cocktail for Ms Ong Yean Ting , who recently stepped down from the AMMI Board. Mr Hitendra Joshi presented Ms Ong with a token of appreciation for her contributions to AMMI as Director as well as Leader of the Regulatory and Technical Committee, wishing her well in her future undertakings. .

12 August 2016 EtO Sterilization for Medical Devices

AMMI-Medsociate organised the EtO Sterilization Training replacement class on 12 August 2016 at Dorsett Grand Subang Petaling Jaya.  14 participants attended the training with industry expert, Ms Sri Devi Shanmugam, as the trainer. The course gave participants an in depth perspective and practical examples of the EtO sterilization process, such as validation & standard, EtO routine process control, EtO residuals, safety & environmental control, handling EtO gas and biological indicator

18 October 2016 AMMI HR Forum

AMMI recently organised its HR Forum and Networking Meeting at Hilton Hotel Petaling Jaya. The full-day event  was a great success, with over  30 participants attending the forum workshop.  AMMI Treasurer Mr Chin Hock Meng gave a welcome speech to all present. The day started off with presentations from Mr Zain Azrai and Mr Lim from Korn Ferry Hay Group, who talked about Compensations and Benefits. Next up was guest speaker, Mr K. Kesavan , Senior Principal Assistant Secretary, Policy Division, Ministry of Human Resources who spoke about the Impact of TPPA on the Labour Law. This was then followed by an engagement session by Talent Corp Malaysia, represented by Puan Hajjah Mahuran, Head of Research, CEO’s Office. The group then adjourned for a sumptuous buffet lunch at the coffee house.
Ms Cynthia Ooi (VP Human Resource, B.Braun) took the lead at the start of the second half session, by introducing  the concept of  World Cafe Workshop. She also introduced fellow cafe hosts, Mr Joshua Chong (Senior Manager, Ambu) and Encik Ahmad Nordin (Asst. General Manager, Texchem Group). The participants were divided into 3 groups and worked on 3 different topics : (1) Sharing Employee Retention Strategies    (2) Engaging your employees  (3) Employee Motivation. The workshop was very interactive and engaging, with a lot of sharing by participants.  All gave the workshop a big thumbs up and would very much love to do it again!

9 – 10 November 2016 : FMEA in Medical Device Manufacturing

AMMI- Medsociate organised the training course on FMEA for Medical Device Manufacturing at E&O Hotel from 9-10 November 2016.  Fifteen (15) participants attended the training by industry expert, Mr L.K.Lim. The training course cum workshop aimed to  enable participants to differentiate between Design and Process FMEA, practise live Process and Design FMEA in class, assess risk in a systematic manner, quantify and prioritize risks with Criticality Analysis (CA), improve process within own department (point kaizen), contribute to cross functional process improvement (flow-kaizen)  and map your current “As Is” business process. It will also aimed to enable participants engage staff through systematic analysis and improvement, while generating solutions to eliminate or reduce failure risks – all of which will lead to improved cost, delivery and quality.
