| AMMI recently organised its HR Forum and Networking Meeting at Hilton Hotel Petaling Jaya. The full-day event was a great success, with over 30 participants attending the forum workshop. AMMI Treasurer Mr Chin Hock Meng gave a welcome speech to all present. The day started off with presentations from Mr Zain Azrai and Mr Lim from Korn Ferry Hay Group, who talked about Compensations and Benefits. Next up was guest speaker, Mr K. Kesavan , Senior Principal Assistant Secretary, Policy Division, Ministry of Human Resources who spoke about the Impact of TPPA on the Labour Law. This was then followed by an engagement session by Talent Corp Malaysia, represented by Puan Hajjah Mahuran, Head of Research, CEO’s Office. The group then adjourned for a sumptuous buffet lunch at the coffee house. |
| Ms Cynthia Ooi (VP Human Resource, B.Braun) took the lead at the start of the second half session, by introducing the concept of World Cafe Workshop. She also introduced fellow cafe hosts, Mr Joshua Chong (Senior Manager, Ambu) and Encik Ahmad Nordin (Asst. General Manager, Texchem Group). The participants were divided into 3 groups and worked on 3 different topics : (1) Sharing Employee Retention Strategies (2) Engaging your employees (3) Employee Motivation. The workshop was very interactive and engaging, with a lot of sharing by participants. All gave the workshop a big thumbs up and would very much love to do it again! |

9 – 10 November 2016 : FMEA in Medical Device Manufacturing
| AMMI- Medsociate organised the training course on FMEA for Medical Device Manufacturing at E&O Hotel from 9-10 November 2016. Fifteen (15) participants attended the training by industry expert, Mr L.K.Lim. The training course cum workshop aimed to enable participants to differentiate between Design and Process FMEA, practise live Process and Design FMEA in class, assess risk in a systematic manner, quantify and prioritize risks with Criticality Analysis (CA), improve process within own department (point kaizen), contribute to cross functional process improvement (flow-kaizen) and map your current “As Is” business process. It will also aimed to enable participants engage staff through systematic analysis and improvement, while generating solutions to eliminate or reduce failure risks – all of which will lead to improved cost, delivery and quality. |

23 June 2016 AMMI Q2 Meeting and Networking
| AMMI held its Extraordinary Meeting, 27th Annual General Meeting and Q2 Progress Meeting at E&O Hotel, Penang on 23 June 2016. Over 30 members attended the meeting, which also saw Dato Dr Haminnuddin (Ideal Healthcare) joining the AMMI Board of DIrectors. |
| After the Progress Meeting, Ms Ong Yean Ting, AMMI Director and Leader of the Regulatory and Technical Committee gave a presentation on the Revised EU Regulations for Medical Devices.This was followed by a pr
esentation by Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science & Technology (CREST) Centre on National Healthcare Internet of Things (IoT) Initiative by Dr NorAzmi Alias (Senior Vice President Research Management, CREST) and Dr Khoh Soo Beng (Research and Program Director, CrEST). After the meeting, members and guests adjourned for networking cocktails. |

8 Dec 2016 AMMI Annual Golf Tournament
| AMMI Golf Tournament was held on 8 December at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Golf and Country Club. Sixteen players participated in the fun and friendly tournament which pitted the North against the South teams. North Team, captained by Dato’ Haminnuddin (Ideal Healthcare) fought hard against the South Team and its Captain Daniel Lim (Sontara) to finally win by a few strokes. |
| Players representing the North Team were Mr Lam Chee Hong, Mr David Koay, Mr Kiu Chee Kuen and Tengku Muzzammil from B.Braun Medical Industries, Mr Maxx Lee (Professional Tools) and Mr Matin Ng (UWC Healthcare Manufacturing). Players representing the South Team were : Mr B.L Lim (Bemis), Mr Andy Lee (Johnson & Johnson), Mr Ian Husband, Mr Ian Cheshire and Mr Zainol Razak from Owen Mumford, Mr John Ward (Steripack), Mr Christophe Marque (Stereo) and Mr K.K.Tiu (Zeito Plastics). |
| The North Team Captain takes home the grand trophy for the year, and you can be sure it the South will challenge for it in 2017! |

22 July 2016 – Launch of the AMMI Medical Device Industry Outlook Report
| The Association of Malaysian Medical Industries (AMMI) and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA)Dialogue Session and
Launch of the AMMI Medical Device Industry Outlook Report was held at MIDA Sentral Kuala Lumpur recently. The event was attended by MIDA top management team, AMMI Boad of Directors and Members, as well as invited guests and media. |
| MIDA Deputy CEO II, Y.Bhg Datuk N. Rajendran officiated the launch on behalf of MIDA CEO YBhg Dato’ Azman Mahmud. In Y.Bhg Dato’s Azman Mahmud’s press statement, Y.Bhg Dato’ complimented AMMI’s efforts inputting together the report, noting that it serves as a good reference to highlight the opportunities in the medical device industry in the Malaysia and would be indispensable to industry players at all levels – as it gives important insights on the outlook and future prospects of the medical device industry. |
| AMMI Chairman, Hitendra Joshi highlighted that its members’ collective exports last year have increased by 20% to reach RM8.3 billion during his presentation.This represents more than 50% of Malaysia’s total exports of medical devices of RM15.5 billion in 2015.
Mr Joshi then presented the AMMI Medical Device Industry Report 2016 to Y.Bhg. Datuk N. Rajendran. The launch was followed by a press conference and luncheon for invited guests. |
