2 October 2024: AMMI Malaysia Medtech Industry Summit 2024

On 2 October 2024, AMMI hosted 383 industry leaders and key stakeholders at its landmark event at G Hotel Gurney Penang. With the theme “Malaysia, a Medtech Industry Success Story,” the event was was about creating a networking platform and fostering a collaborative ecosystem to elevate Malaysia’s role on the global medtech stage.

AMMI Chairman Andy Kuan Min Lee gave the Welcome Remarks. Dr Muralitharan Paramasua , Chief Executive, Medical Device Authority in his Keynote Speech reiterated that the Malaysian government has prioritized the medical device industry in its New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 to further fuel growth and innovation.

Insightful presentions and discussions on AI, Global Regulatory Changes, ESG in Medtech and Medical Device Packaging & Sterilization.

Hawke Tan WH (UBCT) and Jc Guillou (Molnlycke) presented in the AI & Robotics in Medtech segment. Robert Froehlich from TÜV SÜD ASEAN discussed essential global regulatory updates and Cheryl Fong Wai Mei (Boston Scientific) shared practical insights on navigating EUMDR compliance.

Chor Yan Choy (Veolia) presented innovative water management solutions, Baskaran .B (Teleflex) shared on ESG Cultural Behavioural Transformation, Alister Stewart (Schneider Electric) presented decarbonisation strategies and Daowei Lin (ENGIE SEA) provided insights on climate action, energy efficiency, and sustainable production. Graham Rice, (B.Braun) moderated the panel discussion, joined by Choy, Baskaran, Alister and Daowei.

Laetitia CLERC (DuPont) shared on packaging regulations and circular economy considerations, while Dr. Brian McEvoy MBA ISTERIS) covered the future of sterilization.
